For over a century, Kewpie® has defined “cute.”  Moreover, Kewpie® became a part of the American vernacular, representing the prize to be won for successfully achieving a goal.  “Give that man a Kewpie Doll…” is what the winner would hear.

And through the years,  though others have attempted to trade on the goodwill of Kewpie®, they have failed again and again.  Kewpie® is truly the character about which the phrase “often imitated, never duplicated” could have first been spoken.

Kewpie has far too many distinguishing factors to not be immediately recognized as an original:
•  wide, side-glancing eyes
•  distinctive facial expressions
•  a top-knot of hair
•  side tufts of hair above each ear
•  a similar tuft at the base of the head on the back side
•  the starfish right hand
•  a little tummy
